Mod featured at 360 Vision Lab
We were chuffed to be selected as one of a handfull of studios to exhibit at the 360 Vision lab event held this month at Carriageworks. It was the first public demo of our VR version of ACO Virtual, a room-based experience powered by the HTC Vive, which allows users to move around and interact within the ACO Virtual installation, in virtual reality.
360 Vision is Australia’s first Virtual Reality development initiative, a joint project of the ABC and Screen NSW. 360 Vision aims to be a pathway for Australia’s screen content creators to move into the new frontier of Virtual Reality. The initiative kicked off with the lab, an intensive, invitation-only one-day event held as part of Vivid Sydney. The day brought together screen content funding bodies, broadcasters, producers, creators and industry representatives to learn about and experience the latest content and technology, focusing on 360 video and VR. The difference is outlined in Michela's VR in a nutshell paper.
Courtney Gibson, Chief Executive of Screen NSW, said: “Virtual Reality is a space in which the world’s biggest technology and entertainment companies are starting to seriously play. The time feels right for Australian producers, writers and directors of screen content to come together with technical experts from the VR world to explore the possibilities of 360 degree storytelling for Australian audiences.”
